EMAGIC is a dynamic project initiated by students at the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Global Sustainability, University of South Florida. Founded by Joseph W. Dorsey, Ph.D., the visionary behind the core course Concepts and Principles of Sustainability, EMAGIC is a virtual hub for sustainability action. Managed by students enrolled in Dr. Dorsey's class, EMAGIC is driven by a shared passion to make a positive impact. Each year, new students inherit and build upon the work of their predecessors, infusing fresh perspectives into EMAGIC's ongoing mission. Join us in shaping a more sustainable future.
Mission
EMAGIC’s mission is to educate, empower, and challenge the world to become better environmental stewards. EMAGIC was born out of the ecological restoration witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic global lockdown. EMAGIC directives and guidelines provide a responsible way to expand the environmental movement by challenging individuals to broaden their awareness and activate behaviors that allow the Earth to regenerate during month of April and beyond.
Vision
The world is in an environmental crisis. Now is the time to hold each other accountable for environmental actions, not just for the sake of the environment but for the longevity of humanity.
EMAGIC aims to be the global sustainability center to transform individual, industrial, and governmental manners of engaging, consuming, and producing around the world. We armor people with knowledge and challenge them to initiate a new habit every year to grow their sustainability footprint. As individuals, we have the collective power to influence government policies, market trends, and public education around environmental justice, societal wellbeing and economic stability. Our institution is a support center, your voice is the change maker.
Why celebrate only Earth Day when we can be focused on the Earth's resilience for a whole month? Earth Month gives us an opportunity to allow the planet to heal itself while we become a more sustainable society.
