Past Projects

Fall 2020

The origin of EMAGIC. The Fall 2020 group members completed background research with a focus on the environmental impacts of the lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With their research, the idea of a month-long earth day became the basis of EMAGIC.

Spring 2021

Potential funding from stakeholders and sponsors for EMAGIC and engagement opportunities with the public and students was analyzed for future use. Additionally, this group completed an in-depth literature review on environmental advocacy.

Fall 2021

Using the information from prior semesters, the Fall 2021 group members started to plan out activities and events for Earth Month, with each week having a specific focus (water, energy, food, and plastic). Furthermore, the idea of the creation of a Center was established with the headquarters being here at the Patel College of Global Sustainability.

Fall 2022

The idea of a month-long earth month was analyzed with plans on how to get the center up and running using sustainability principles and commitments. Lastly, the idea for a Virtual Center was created, prompting the establishment of this website.

Spring 2023

The EMAGIC website was updated. This group is focused on setting up the website for the official launch of the center for next year, 2024. Furthermore, a social media presence was established and potential partners were contacted.

Spring 2024 (Ongoing)

Our new EMAGIC logo encompasses the beauty of nature and renewable energy. The EMAGIC Website has been updated with “Earth Month Events” and “Challenges” as the newest additions. We have been posting Earth Month Challenges multiple times a week during the month of April, on our main social media platform, Instagram. The following themes have been established for each week’s challenges: Week 1-Climate, Week 2-Food, Week 3-Community, Week 4-Nature. With many Earth Month events scheduled at the University of South Florida and around the Tampa Bay Area, we hope for EMAGIC to attend and hold events within the next year!
